Bilaspur district is situated between 21'47 and 23'8 north latitudes and 81'14 and 83'15 east latitudes. E-governance or electronic governance may be defined as delivery of services and information to the public using information technology (IT). Use of IT in government facilitates efficient, speedy and transparent process for dissemination of information to the public. In an attempt to promote procedural simplicity, speed and convenience and facilitate e-governance.

The e-Governance Centre has been established with the following objectives.
Transparency in the working of the Government;
To ensure greater efficiency, objectivity, accountability and speed in providing services and information to the public.
To provide cost effective service and quality of the same.
To provide single window for all Govt. Services at District Level.
To provide a friendly, speedier and efficient interface.
To eliminate the middlemen
In an attempt to improve efficiency and responsiveness in administration, a Video Conferencing facility has been by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Bilaspur.
